Nigerian female talking drummer, Ara Thunder, has said her encounter with President of France, Macron has boosted her career.
The drummer has chosen July 3, 2018 as the biggest day of her career. The occasion, which was the visit of French President, Emmanuel Macron, to the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos, provided a rare opportunity for Ara to re-assert her talent.
She and other members of Atunda Entertainment, Anu the Lady Ekwe and Olo Omidan Bata, excited the French President with the ekwe talking drum and bata drum.
Being a platform that usually creates presentations specifically for an event, the Atunda decided to present an iconic cultural gift to the Macron. They presented the drum with a specially created composition that made it easy for a first-time talking drummer like Macron to relate to.
However, the demonstration of artistic prowess and calmness by Ara Thunder, while presenting it, made headlines. She stepped down from the stage, with all eyes and the cameras focused on her. She danced through the audience to where Macron was seated with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State and other officials, to do the presentation.
Speaking with a group of journalists, Ara said;
“Performing for President Macron is a big boost for my career as I have been receiving accolades and overtures from many people and organisations. I am grateful to the Lagos State Government, Trace TV for the opportunity and privilege to have been selected as one of the artistes for that night. I am also grateful to Atunda Entertainment for giving me the opportunity to be part of the family.”
