LAGOS — In response to growing anxieties over recent security reports, prominent community leader Hon. Ambassador Godspower Chukwudi Ekpoluonye (GCE) has issued an urgent call for heightened vigilance, enhanced inter-agency collaboration, and immediate environmental clean-ups across Lagos State.
In a formal statement released to the public, Ambassador Ekpoluonye emphasized that safeguarding lives and property is a collective duty that leaves no room for complacency, regardless of whether recent security rumors are validated.
Ekpoluonye directly appealed to the nation’s top security apparatus, including:
- The Nigeria Police Force
- The Armed Forces
- The Department of State Services (DSS)
- The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
He urged these agencies to intensify surveillance, increase patrols, and strengthen intelligence-gathering mechanisms. Special focus, he noted, must be given to vulnerable and rapidly developing communities across the state to preemptively disrupt criminal activities.
A major highlight of the advisory was the direct charge given to landlords and property owners. Ekpoluonye warned that abandoned buildings and overgrown plots serve as perfect cover for criminal elements.
He mandated that all owners of undeveloped lands immediately clear overgrown bushes and maintain their properties regularly to deny criminals any hiding spots.
To complement formal law enforcement, the statement called on Community Development Associations (CDAs) and residents’ groups to fortify local vigilante structures. Ekpoluonye stressed that these grassroots initiatives must operate strictly within the ambit of the law and maintain seamless communication with official security agencies.
“Security is everyone’s business,” Ambassador Ekpoluonye stated, reminding residents that a clean environment and coordinated community effort are vital to preserving the peace and prosperity of Lagos State.
