Wizkid has apologized to me – Reekado Banks reveals

Music star, Reekado Banks has revealed that Afrobeats singer, Wizkid has apologized following their rift during #EndSARS

The controversy began in 2020 when Wizkid publicly berated Reekado over the release of their joint track “Omo Olomo” during the #EndSARS protests.

Reekado revealed that he had initially advised against releasing the song, citing the sensitive climate, but his management overruled him.

Reflecting on the experience, Reekado described it as unpleasant but stated that he was able to move on.

He admitted to regretting the decision and credited the incident with teaching him to stand firmer in his convictions.

In a surprising turn, Reekado disclosed that Wizkid recently visited his restaurant, and they had a heart-to-heart discussion about the past.

According to Reekado, Wizkid expressed regret over his actions, even mentioning his past behavior towards Don Jazzy.

Wizkid apparently attributed his past actions to the fact that they had both recently lost their mothers, and Reekado confirmed that the issue is now resolved.

He said:

“Not the nicest, especially considering I didn’t want to put the music out. I had urged my management at the time not to put it out, but they were convinced that it wasn’t a problem… It was so bad at the time. I was able to move on from it.”

“Absolutely. So there is not much that I am convinced to do these days that I do not do,”

“Recently, he came visiting my restaurant. We had a little talk, and he was a little regretful about it. He was like he shouldn’t have gone that route.

“He mentioned his behaviour towards Don Jazzy as well, and he was like we are three people in the game that have only recently lost our moms. He feels sorry about the time and it’s good now.”
