Music icon Wizkid has set a new benchmark for African artists, becoming the first to cross an estimated 20 billion global audio-on-demand streams.
The milestone was confirmed by music analytics platform Chart Masters, which calculated the total from Wizkid’s solo tracks and collaborations. The achievement underscores the Nigerian star’s dominant presence across global streaming platforms.
Wizkid’s most-played appearance remains his 2016 collaboration with Drake and Kyla on the global hit “One Dance,” which has earned more than 3.6 billion streams on Spotify alone. The song holds a Guinness World Record as the first track to surpass 1 billion streams on the platform.
This latest achievement adds to Wizkid’s impressive list of accolades. He was previously honored as the first African artist to earn the Brit Billion Award, recognizing over one billion audio streams in the UK.
With more than 65 million units sold globally, Wizkid continues to reign as the highest-selling Afrobeats artist of all time, cementing his legacy as a trailblazer on the world stage.
