Wahala Musician! Portable cries out over low streaming income on Apple music

Portable has raised concerns over the low income he earns from music streaming, despite consistently releasing songs each month and building a fanbase that spans beyond Nigeria

In a video shared online, the singer appealed to veteran music producer Don Jazzy for guidance on improving his streaming revenue.

Portable explained that the money he makes on Apple Music is far below expectations. He suggested that streams from Nigeria are undervalued and questioned why his international streams don’t seem to contribute significantly to his earnings.

The “Zazu” singer asked Don Jazzy to mentor him on strategies to better monetize his music, expressing confidence that with the right approach, he could become one of Nigeria’s top-earning artists.

He said:

“I’ve been releasing tracks on Apple Music every month, but the income is very low. They say Nigerian streams are cheap, but I have fans in America and all over the world—so why isn’t that reflected in my earnings? Don Jazzy, I need your help to figure out how to make more from streaming. If you guide me, I can become bigger than all the other artists in Nigeria.”
