WAFCON 2026: Madugu names Ajibade, Nnadozie, 23 others for Cameroon friendlies

Head coach, Justine Madugu has released a 25-player squad for the Super Falcons ahead of their international friendly matches against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in Yaounde.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and forwards Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo headline the list.

Midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, who plays club football in Canada, returns to the squad after a lengthy absence. Forward Gift Monday, now based in the United States, also makes her comeback after missing last year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph in Morocco.

There is a first senior call-up for England-based goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor, while Mexico-based defender Chidinma Okeke returns to the fold. Tanzania-based midfielder Precious Christopher links up with the team for the first time.

Regulars including defenders Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin, and Ashley Plumptre; midfielders Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, Deborah Abiodun, and Jennifer Echegini; as well as forwards Rinsola Babajide and Folashade Ijamilusi retain their places.

The first friendly is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, with the second set for Tuesday, March 3.

The matches form part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026.

Madugu’s side have been drawn in Group C alongside Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt.

All four semi-finalists at the tournament will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
