Vitor Pereira has reached an agreement to take over as head coach of Nottingham Forest, following the club’s decision to part ways with Sean Dyche less than four months into his tenure
Forest confirmed Dyche’s exit after Wednesday’s 0-0 stalemate against bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers, a result that intensified concerns over the team’s form.
Reports indicate Pereira quickly emerged as a top candidate, with discussions progressing smoothly. The Portuguese coach previously managed Wolves, taking charge at Molineux in December 2024 and guiding them to safety after a difficult spell.
However, a run of 10 consecutive league matches without a win at the start of the following campaign led to his dismissal in November. By April, Wolves had moved 12 points clear of the relegation zone.
Dyche becomes the third manager Forest have dismissed this season, following spells under Nuno Espírito Santo and Ange Postecoglou. The 54-year-old had only been appointed in October, replacing Postecoglou with the club sitting 18th in the table. Before settling on Dyche, Forest explored options including Roberto Mancini and Marco Silva of Fulham.
Forest’s struggles have continued, with just three victories from their last 13 matches in all competitions. They currently sit three points above 18th-placed West Ham United, leaving little margin for error in the battle for survival.
Pereira’s first test will come in the Europa League play-off first leg away to Fenerbahçe in Türkiye next Thursday. His immediate focus, however, will be ensuring Forest retain their Premier League status — a position the club fought 23 years to reclaim through the 2022 play-offs.
