Trent Alexander Arnold confirms leaving Liverpool

Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold has announced he will leave the club at the end of the season, bringing an emotional close to a 20-year journey at his boyhood club.

In a heartfelt video shared on X, the 25-year-old confirmed his departure, saying:
“After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season. This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life.”

Alexander-Arnold revealed he had held off on addressing speculation out of respect for the club’s title ambitions.
“I know many of you have wondered why or been frustrated that I haven’t spoken about this yet, but it was always my intention to keep my full focus on the team’s best interests, which was securing No.20,” he said.

The England international, who rose through Liverpool’s academy ranks, described the club as his “whole life” and thanked fans, coaches, teammates, and staff for two decades of unwavering support.
“The support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside of the club will stay with me forever. I will forever be in debt to you all.”

In the caption accompanying his post, Alexander-Arnold said the decision was personal:
“It’s not about wanting to find something better, it’s about me and my personal journey as a player. I feel like now is the right time for me to go and experience that.”

He also acknowledged that some fans may be disappointed by the news but assured them of his lifelong connection to the club.
“I’ll forever be in debt to the club and the fans for everything they’ve done for me. The love I have for this club will never leave. I’ll always remain a Liverpool fan. I’ll be back—any chance I get, I’ll come and support.”

Since making his senior debut in 2016, Alexander-Arnold has gone on to win every major club trophy with Liverpool, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.

His departure marks the end of an era for one of Liverpool’s most celebrated homegrown players.
