#Tokyo2020: D’Tigress Faces Crushing Defeat In Their Game Against France

The Nigerian Women’s Basketball team, D’Tigress, and the French team were looking to get their first victory at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Both teams lost their opening group B games. D’Tigress lost 81-72 to the USA team, while the Japanese team beat France 74-70.

D’Tigress started the game with Adaora Elonu, Promise Amukamara, Ezinne Kalu, Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah, and Victoria Macaulay.

The French team kicked off the game with determination, taking the first quarter 18-12 against Nigeria. The second quarter was almost the same as the first as D’Tigress were not able to find their rhythm against the French women. At the end of the second quarter, the D’Tigress trailed France by 17 points.

Although the Nigerian team played much better in the third and fourth quarter, the team suffered their second defeat at the Olympic Games losing 87-62 to a much better France team.

D’Tigress will have to work on their free throws, rebounds, turnovers, and shooting accuracy if they are to stand a chance in their last group game.

In the other group B game which was played earlier, the United States of America beat Japan 86-69. This result means the USA has booked a quarter-final spot.

In the final group game, D’Tigress will play Japan while the USA plays France on Monday, August 2nd, 2021.
