There are many misconceptions about vasectomy as a family planning method. We are here to dispel them on Family Planning Friday discussion today #FPFriday

During a vasectomy procedure, a trained provider performs a procedure that blocks the tubes carrying sperm from the testicles. The testicles remain in place
Here are other things you need to know about vasectomy
-Vasectomy is safe for men. It does not cause any diseases later in life
-A man is just as sexually active after vasectomy as before
-Vasectomy does not cause cancer
-It does not cause a man to grow fat or become weak, less masculine or less productive

-Vasectomy does not cause cancer
Men have the same sex drive after vasectomy as they had before.
A vasectomy does not remove the testicles and does not affect sexual function. A man’s erection is as hard, lasts as long and he ejaculates as he did before.

Vasectomies can be reversed in a procedure called a Vasovasostomy.
However, it is highly dependent on the technique used for the vasectomy.
After a successful vasectomy reversal, sperm are again present in the semen, and you may be able to get your partner pregnant.

Note that this isn’t always successful.
