Singer, Teni Apata took to Instagram to commemorate the 30th anniversary of her father’s tragic death, Brigadier-General Simeon Apata.
In a heartfelt post, Teni shared personal details of her father’s assassination, disclosing that a two-week-old baby was used as bait to lure him to his death.
Teni vividly described the horrific scene of her father’s murder, which occurred right in front of their home, leaving his family shattered by the violent loss.
She also expressed her deep sadness about the lack of photographs with her father.
Teni’s sister, Niniola, offered words of comfort, encouraging Teni to see their father’s reflection in herself whenever she looks in the mirror.
This poignant advice evoked strong emotions in Teni, helping her feel connected to her father despite his absence.
In her tribute, Teni celebrated her father’s heroism, particularly his bravery in combating armed robbery.
She remembered him as a protector of the people, who had killed several robbers before his tragic death.
Teni also honored her father’s three wives, whom she affectionately referred to as ‘sisters’ from different parts of Nigeria. She shared a photo of Gladys Ify, Margaret Olayinka, and Margaret Folajogun, highlighting their shared experience of losing a loved one.
Additionally, Teni showcased her father’s enduring legacy – the Apata Memorial Nursery/Primary and Secondary School, which he founded for his family.
A video shared by Teni gave a glimpse into the school, which offers day and boarding facilities.
