British-Nigerian rapper and singer Darkoo has shared that revealing her sexuality to her parents has lifted a huge weight off her shoulders.
In an episode of ‘The Appointment Show’ podcast, hosted by Layo, the queer artist mentioned that her happiness has grown since she opened up to her mother about her sexuality.
“The day I told my mom [about my sexuality], it felt like a massive weight off my shoulder… I’ve been happy since then,” Darkoo said.
She explained that while it was a great relief to talk to both her parents, it was harder for her mother, as they are closer.
“My dad was not really interested in the conversation but at the end of the day, I’m living my life. And that’s what I’m doing.”
