Skales recounts experience of being locked up in prison by a billionaire

Singer Skales has recounted an experience he had while being locked up in a prison.

In a recent interview, the singer stated that sometime back, he was locked up in prison when he had an issue with a certain billionaire. He accused the billionaire of using his power to get him and his manager locked up. Skales said that when he landed in prison, he had no choice but to perform for the prisoners whom he met in the prison.

He was asked to share a story of something no one in the music industry knows about. The singer, in his response, said;

‘’One time, me and my manager were locked up. They locked us up for no reason. We had an issue with some billionaire and just because of power. Next thing, they arrested my manager and they told me to go home. And I said, never. How can you arrest my manager and tell me to go home? Like I followed them to the police station.

So while I was writing statements for my manager, they now told me that I have to sleep in the cell. So I slept in the cell and I performed in the cell. Because when I got in, one guy recognized me. And he told me that, you look like Skales. I was like, yeah. He was like, how come? What happened? Did you kill someone? I was like, no, I didn’t do it. And I explained what I did. He said, that’s how all these billionaires, even offered to help me more than him. I told him, no, no, no, no. Forget about it. That’s okay.

‘’In this cell, they have boss. And he has to go and show me to the boss. If not, the boys beneath would deal with me. So he took me to the boss and he told the boss, na Skale, we listen to the song you did last time. So he mentioned all the names now, Oya Shake Body and Emergency. I was like, oh, that Emergency song. He now sang to me, Genevieve. I said, yeah, now you sing that song. He was like, you’ll perform for us now. So when you perform, you’ll sleep on mats because they were all sleeping on the floor. When you perform, we’ll give you special place. And I performed, I sang the lyrics, I did everything shamelessly. And, you know, he gave me mats and he felt bad. He actually felt bad. He said, this boy doesn’t deserve to be here. And yeah, they were nice to me.

‘’And when I left, when I got out, what they used to do is while you’re in the cell, your family has to be sending money to the police to buy food and give you even though you will not eat. So when I left, I bought a lot of food and I sent to them and I told them thank you. So that’s one story that’s happened to me.”
