Ghanaian dancehall singer, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, better known as Shatta Wale, has been released on bail after he spent about seven days in prison. The singer was granted a self-recognizance bail following the plea of his lawyers at the Accra circuit court on Tuesday, after which the case was adjourned to November 9. The 37-year-old singer and his accomplices were subsequently asked to pay the sum of Ghc100,000 each. The ‘Dancehall King’ had been in police custody since October 19 when he was arraigned claiming he was attacked by gunmen. The singer was charged with publication of fake news and he pleaded not guilty at the Accra circuit court last Thursday.
