Shallipopi has announced plans to boycott future Headies Awards after a disappointing experience at the 17th edition.
Despite winning Best Rap Single for his song “Cast,” he was denied an award plaque on stage, receiving only a handshake.
In a social media post, Shallipopi expressed embarrassment and claimed he didn’t want the award, suggesting it be given to “real rappers.”
He vowed not to participate in future ceremonies, stating he’ll avoid attending even if it means bending over backward to do so.
He wrote:
“The next one if una see me make I bend.
“I nor go even lie for una sef, I nor want that award. Give the real rappers wey dey the category. Me, Shallipopi I nor be rapper.”
