French attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki has completed a move to Manchester City from Olympique Lyon in a deal worth up to €40 million.
The agreement includes €35 million upfront with an additional €5 million in performance-based add-ons.
The 20-year-old, often hailed as one of France’s brightest young talents, is set to sign a five-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.
Cherki had an impressive season with Lyon, recording 12 goals and 20 assists across all competitions. His performances also earned him praise on the international stage, where he represented France in the UEFA Nations League.
The move is part of City’s ongoing squad reinforcement ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup this summer. Cherki joins fellow newcomers Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Aït-Nouri as Pep Guardiola prepares for another demanding season.
This signing highlights City’s continued focus on youth and technical ability, as they secure one of Europe’s most promising playmakers for the future.
