Rising Nigerian artist Holiveah has completed an astonishing 168-hour painting marathon, wrapping up a week-long attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest painting session by an individual
The non-stop creative stretch began on July 21 and came to a close at exactly 1:50 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025. The feat drew widespread attention from art lovers, cultural enthusiasts, and supporters across Nigeria and beyond.
Holiveah, a visual artist from Bonny Island, Rivers State, was met with loud cheers and celebration as she dropped her brush after seven grueling days of continuous painting. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as friends, fans, and fellow artists applauded her determination and talent.
Originally aiming for 150 hours, she exceeded her target, pushing herself to 168 hours in an inspiring show of endurance.
“This wasn’t just about breaking a record. It was about proving that consistency, creativity, and courage can open doors globally—especially for African women,” Holiveah said after the final stroke.
Throughout the marathon, her artwork focused on powerful themes such as hope, resilience, African identity, and youth empowerment—each painting reflecting the rich cultural essence of Nigeria.
The event did more than showcase her artistic ability. It also energized the local community, boosting tourism and highlighting Bonny Island as an emerging creative destination. Conversations around investment in the arts and youth development were reignited as the event gained momentum.
To many, Holiveah’s record attempt became a symbol of inspiration.
“It’s a movement of hope, art, and African excellence,” one attendee remarked.
The attempt is currently under review by Guinness World Records for official certification.
