At the resumed coroner’s inquest into the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, only one witness appeared before the judge on Thursday—a pathologist from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH),
HE SAID: “I have been a pathologist for over 18 years and have carried out autopsies on more than 1,000 bodies, including those that were exhumed. The first thing I noticed when I examined Mohbad’s body was that all the blood had dried up. There was no fluid left in his system. I examined both his internal and external organs.
“The police had told me they found some syringes in his home in September 2023. I reached out to them to access those syringes for examination, but I received no response. From my analysis, I can confirm that Mohbad was not using dr*gs. What I found in his system were allergy medications and painkillers. That raised questions—why would a 26-year-old be taking such a high amount of those drugs?
“I could have discovered more about the cause of death if there had been blood left in his system. Unfortunately, the dried-up blood limited my findings.”
Following the testimony, the judge adjourned the inquest and stated that a new date would be communicated to the lawyers at a later time.
