Mbappe now 6th in all-time UCL top scorers chart

Kylian Mbappé has reached another Champions League milestone, becoming the competition’s sixth all-time leading goalscorer by surpassing Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The French forward scored twice from the penalty spot to secure a 2–1 win for Real Madrid over Marseille in Xabi Alonso’s first Champions League match as coach of the 15-time European champions.

Mbappé now has 57 goals in Europe’s premier club competition at just 26 years old, equaling Thomas Müller’s tally and moving above Van Nistelrooy, who has 56. He achieved the feat in 88 Champions League appearances, compared to Van Nistelrooy’s 73.

The striker’s brace also contributed to a strong start to his 2025–26 season, with six goals in five appearances for Real Madrid. His efforts have helped the Spanish side navigate a chaotic night against Marseille, which saw Trent Alexander-Arnold pick up a hamstring injury and Dani Carvajal sent off.

Since joining Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappé has scored 50 goals in 64 appearances, quickly establishing himself as a key figure in the squad. He now needs just one more goal to overtake Müller and take sole possession of sixth place in the Champions League scoring charts.

Cristiano Ronaldo leads the all-time list with 140 goals, followed by Lionel Messi (129), Roberto Lewandowski (105), Karim Benzema (90), and Raúl (71), with Mbappé firmly on track to climb further among Europe’s most prolific scorers.
