The Creative Industry Group (CIG) on Tuesday joined the rest of the world to mourn the death of the reggae music icon, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly called Majek Fashek, describing him as a true legend. Amb. Felix Duke, CIG President, paid the tribute in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos. Duke described the sensational singer of the 1980’s, through his inspirational music, as a rare gift to mankind, saying he would be missed by the creative industry and all. “It is with a deep sense of loss and feeling of nostalgia that we join the rest of the world to mourn the death of our very own “Send Down The Rain” crooner, Majekodunmi Fasheke. The sensational singer, song writer and guitarist of the 80s, fondly called the ‘Rainmaker’, was a breath of fresh air to anyone who listened to him. Majek Fashek inspired his generation and a lot of us even to the new generation, through his music,” he said. Duke noted that Fashek’s messages through his music were always positive, his lyrics unique, a rare breed. He described the Late Reggae star as gifted musically and lyrically. “Our hearts and condolences stretch out to his family, friends, loved ones and fans. May the grace to bear the loss be multiplied greatly on you all,” he said. Majek died at the early hours of Tuesday in New York following a protracted illness.
