Adeola, the 41-year-old daughter of veteran Yoruba actress Jumoke George, has been rescued and returned to Nigeria after spending four years in Mali, where she was reportedly trafficked.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), announced the development via her X account on Monday. She welcomed Adeola back alongside Nollywood stars Abiola Adebayo and Niyi Johnson.
She wrote: “Breaking!Adeola, daughter of popular actress, Jumoke George, who cried out that she had not heard from her daughter in four years is back home , from Mali where she was trafficked to .Just received her , with Biola Adebayo who broke the story and Niyi Johnson. Details later !”
Despite her return, Adeola has yet to reunite with her mother.
Jumoke George had previously shared on Abiola Adebayo’s Talk to B podcast that Adeola went missing after leaving her grandmother’s home in Ibadan, telling family she was heading to Lagos. That was the last time she was seen.
In an earlier interview, the actress emotionally recounted how she endured severe illness and was forced to live in a church, all while grappling with the trauma of her daughter’s disappearance.
