Roma are considering signing Super Eagles star, Kelechi Iheanacho if they fail to sign Tammy Abraham this summer.
Jose Mourinho is the new manager of AS Roma and has placed Iheanacho as his next target despite the Owerri born striker signing a new three-year contract with Leicester City in April .
Roma have already agreed a £34million deal with Chelsea for Abraham, but the 23-year-old England international has asked for time to think about the offer as he doesn’t want to rush into a deal.
Abraham fell out of favour at Chelsea midway through last season as Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as head coach and was left out of the squad for May’s Champions League final, despite being fully fit.
Abraham, 23, who rejected Nigeria to play for England must now decide if he wants to join the Italian club, who are managed by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
Romelu Lukaku’s signing from Inter Milan is set to push Abraham further down the pecking order, but he is not really attracted to the prospect of playing in Roma.
Reports from Italy now indicate Iheanacho who is equally young and a goalscorer with experience in a major European league would be a good investment for Roma and would not cost more than £40m if they were to bid for him.
Iheanacho meanwhile is reportedly settled in England and has no intention of switching to Italy unless he is pushed out of the club.
