Joeboy places huge bet on Nigeria ahead of Morocco AFCON 2025 fixture

Joeboy has shared the amount he placed on the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of the semi-final fixture against Morocco at AFCON 2025.

The stakes for Wednesday’s AFCON 2025 semifinal have shifted from the pitch to the pockets of Nigeria’s biggest stars. Following the lead of fellow hitmaker Davido, Afrobeats sensation Joeboy has reportedly placed a staggering ₦5 million bet on the Super Eagles to defeat host nation Morocco.

The “Alcohol” crooner, known for his high-stakes interest in sports betting, shared a glimpse of his wager on social media, expressing absolute confidence in Nigeria’s ability to silence the home crowd in Rabat.

Joeboy is no stranger to the betting world, though his track record has been a mix of legendary wins and public “premium tears.”

In April 2025, the singer made headlines after losing ₦3 million on a Champions League fixture where he backed Real Madrid against Arsenal.

Joeboy’s wager adds to a growing wave of financial backing for the national team:

  • Davido: Recently staked approximately ₦36 million ($25,000) on Nigeria’s opening fixtures.
  • Abdul Samad Rabiu: The BUA Group chairman has pledged a $500,000 bonus for a win against Morocco, plus an additional $50,000 per goal.

The bet rests on a formidable Nigeria side that has yet to be beaten in this tournament. Having dispatched Algeria 2-0 in the quarterfinals, the Super Eagles face a Morocco team buoyed by a fervent home crowd at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

If Nigeria secures the win, Joeboy stands to “cash out” a sum estimated to be around 11,000,000 naira, but more importantly, he will be celebrating Nigeria’s first AFCON final appearance since 2023.
