Amazon boss Jeff Bezos is engaged to his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez, her brother has claimed in a lawsuit.
Michael Sanchez referred to Bezos as his sister’s ‘current fiance’, according to the defamation lawsuit he filed in Los Angeles.
The Hollywood talent manager is currently suing Bezos and his security consultant Gavin de Becker for defamation.
Sanchez alleges that the Amazon founder and his team falsely told reporters that he was the one who provided n3de photos of Bezos to The National Enquirer.
The lawsuit contains several allegations about Bezos and his girlfriend, including that their relationship started before previously implied and that Lauren had a role in leaking the couple’s texts and photos.
In one part of the lawsuit, Sanchez describes his sister as Bezos’ fiance.
‘While Mr de Becker’s initial asserted theory was that Mr Sanchez had sold out his sister for $200,000, Mr de Becker soon realized this theory would not hold up because, among other reasons, it was inconceivable that Mr Sanchez would ruin his relationship with his sister and her current fiance, the richest man in the world, for financial gain,’ the court documents state.
It is the only section of the lawsuit where Sanchez implies Bezos and his girlfriend are engaged.
The couple have not publicly said they are engaged.
Lauren was spotted last month wearing a large ring on her right hand while they were vacationing in St Barth.
They have not responded to Sanchez’s claim they are engaged.
Bezos hit back on Monday when he urged the judge to dismiss the defamation lawsuit filed by Sanchez.
Bezos and de Becker argue that the activities Sanchez is accusing them of are protected by a law that restricts litigation seeking to limit people’s free speech rights under the First Amendment.
de Becker is a private investigator who was tasked with rooting out the source of the Enquirer story after it broke last year.
Last year, the Enquirer published a story revealing that Bezos was having an affair with Sanchez’s sister, Lauren.
