Actress and TV host Idia Aisien has spoken candidly about her dating experiences, revealing that she once spent large amounts of money supporting former partners, only to later feel betrayed
During a conversation with Toke Makinwa, the media personality explained that she used to assist the men she dated financially because she was focused on building a lasting relationship with them.
“I spent millions on men,” she said.
“I used to spend money on guys. If they complained that their business wasn’t doing well, I would give them a couple of millions. At the time, I was dating to marry, so I didn’t want my partner to struggle; I tried to help when he was trying to invest in something,” she said.
According to her, she believed that supporting a partner during difficult times would encourage mutual care in the future.
“I believed that if you help a guy in the beginning, later when he’s better, he will help you in return, and that how you treat him is how he will eventually treat you.”
She went on to recount a painful incident involving a former boyfriend whom she had helped financially. The relationship took a turn when he suddenly became unreachable, claiming his phone had problems.
“There was an ex I gave money to when he said his business was down. Later, his phone suddenly stopped going through, but I later found out he had flown a popular girl to Dubai.”
She said the man initially blamed technical issues with his phone, but the truth surfaced after someone close to her spotted him with another woman.
“He insisted his phone was having issues, but one of my brothers told me they saw him with another woman and even had picture evidence. When I confronted him, he first said it was his friends who forced him to go on the trip, then later claimed it was also for business.”
Reflecting on those experiences, Aisien admitted that betrayal has been part of some of her past relationships and has shaped how she now handles love.
“Betrayal in relationships is something that has happened to me,” she said.
