Singer Simi has expressed her desire for Nigerians to stop calling her daughter, Adejare, “Duduke”, a nickname that has gained popularity due to her hit song “Duduke.
Simi, who released the song while pregnant with Adejare, has noted that although she understands the sentiment behind the nickname, she doesn’t appreciate it being used to refer to her child.
According to Simi, “Duduke” is merely a music beat without any deeper meaning, and she’d prefer her daughter to be referred to by her given name, Adejare.
She said: “People call my daughter Duduke which I don’t like. It doesn’t mean anything. As in if it means something good.. it is just a beat. I get it; it’s coming from a good place and I try not to react.”
