Comedian Real Warri Pikin has said she almost regretted coming out to speak her TRUTH on her weight loss, blaming big fat Nigerian women.
She says most people like that are very comfortable in their skin, and so when one decides to leave the ”club”, they take on her.
She says it’s like betraying them, but then, health comes first.
In an interview with Ghanaian journalist Doreen Avio, she disclosed that she had struggled with numerous health problems due to her weight before undergoing gastric sleeve surgery.
She said the surgery led to frequent hospitalization, which affected her ability to perform and support herself. “It wasn’t easy at all,” she said, adding that she had to cancel gigs and refunded money.
Noting that she got a lot of backlash while opening up on her weight loss journey, she said; “I almost regretted coming out to say my truth, because people don’t accept change. They’re stuck with the old version of you because it makes them happy and comfortable. They’re plus-size, they’re big, they can relate, and it makes them happy. So, when you change, they feel like you’ve betrayed them; they can’t accept change.”
