Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has pushed back against critics questioning her continued promotion of her blockbuster project, despite reports that it has grossed over ₦2.6 billion behind the scenes.
Reacting to a message from a skeptic, the box office record-breaker revealed that some believe she should ease up following the film’s commercial success.
“Someone sent a message to me and he said ‘behind the scenes has grossed over 2.6 billion why are you still promoting it? Go and relax now, you’re not tired?’” she said.
However, Akindele maintained that financial milestones are not the ultimate goal, stressing that consistency remains the true driver of long-term success.
“And I told the person it’s not about the money the most important thing is consistency. If you want to be successful, you want to keep breaking records, you have to be consistent, keep pushing your market it’s never be enough,” she stated.
Her remarks underscore a philosophy that has defined her career trajectory an unwavering commitment to sustained effort, strategic marketing and continuous growth, even in the face of record-breaking earnings.
Industry observers note that Akindele’s persistence has become a hallmark of her brand, reinforcing her reputation as both a creative powerhouse and a formidable business strategist within Nigeria’s competitive film landscape.
