The State of Georgia, the United States of America (USA) honored Nigeria’s fuji music superstar, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma with the highest recognition, making him a citizen of the state.
The versatile and influential fuji musician has been a recipient of several awards and recognition both within and outside of Nigeria but nothing undoubtedly has come close to this significant honour that was bestowed on him by the government of the State of Georgia.
In the certificate of “Honorary Georgia Citizen” signed by the Secretary of State, Brian P. Kempt, and handed to the Nigerian-born popular musician, it is stated that Pasuma “be afforded every courtesy as a Goodwill Ambassador from Georgia State in his travels to other states and nations beyond the borders of the United States of America, or wherever he may hereafter travel or reside”.
The ceremony which was conducted within the Georgia Parliament attracted some of the influential politicians and policymakers from the States of Georgia and across USA, who were evidently satisfied to listen to the rendition of Pasuma’s impressive profile in the music world and his commitment to using music as a tool for social change.
Pasuma, who is presently on his annual music tour in the USA and will be performing in over 20 states across America, has stated that this latest honor is a huge motivation for him to be better in his work and to use his music to make a more positive impact in the world.
