Desire Doue signs for PSG from Rennes

Désiré Doué, the 19-year-old winger, has been the talk of the town in this summer’s transfer window.

After a phenomenal season with Stade Rennais, scoring 4 goals and 6 assists in 43 games, he’s become a hot commodity.

Despite Rennes’ struggles to secure a European spot, Doué’s talents earned him a spot in the French squad for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

As he shone on the international stage, two European giants – Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich – went head-to-head for his signature. Bayern, led by Vincent Kompany, offered an initial €35 million, but Rennes rejected it, seeking a higher price.

PSG then stepped in with a €40 million offer, plus €10 million in bonuses, closely matching Rennes’ demands.

After the Olympic tournament, where France fell short against Spain, Doué made his decision.

Contrary to German press reports suggesting Bayern led the race, we can confirm that Doué has chosen PSG, swayed by the club’s vision and Luis Enrique’s persuasive pitch.

This marks a significant coup for PSG, who made him their top target after signing Joao Neves.

Now, the French champions must finalize the transfer details to secure Doué’s arrival.
