Afrobeats megastar Davido has officially released his highly anticipated fifth studio album, 5ive, marking a bold new chapter in his illustrious music career.
The album, unveiled today, is a deeply personal and reflective body of work that captures Davido’s growth, both as an artist and a man.
The title 5ive isn’t just a nod to the number of albums Davido has released—it represents a journey of healing, transformation, and maturity. Coming off the back of personal tragedy and life-changing moments, including the heartbreaking loss of his son in 2022 and the recent birth of his twins, Davido has poured his heart into this project. He described the album as “a symbol of hope, grace, change, and growth.”
5ive features 17 tracks and a powerful mix of collaborations with top talents across the globe. International stars like Chris Brown, Victoria Monét, Becky G, Shenseea, and YG Marley appear alongside Nigerian heavyweights such as Omah Lay, Chike, Victony, and ODUMODUBLVCK.
Standout tracks include:
- “Offa Me” featuring Victoria Monét
- “R&B” with Shenseea and 450
- “Awuke” featuring YG Marley
- “Funds” featuring ODUMODUBLVCK and Chike, which samples Brenda Fassie’s iconic 1997 hit Vuli Ndlela
According to Davido, over 80 songs were recorded for the album, but only 17 made the final cut—carefully selected with input from family and close friends. The result is an intentional and emotionally resonant project, blending Afrobeats, R&B, dancehall, and global sounds.
Within hours of its release, 5ive shot to the top of Nigeria’s iTunes Albums chart and quickly began trending across streaming platforms. Fans and critics alike have praised its production, vulnerability, and the maturity Davido displays in both lyrics and sound.
5ive is now available on all major platforms including Apple Music and Spotify, and is already being hailed as one of Davido’s most compelling works to date.
