Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has arrived in Dakar as part of an official visit to Senegal, where he is set to engage key figures in the nation’s football administration
He was received on Wednesday by Abdoulaye Fall, head of the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football.
During his visit, Motsepe is also scheduled to meet with Senegal’s president, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, before addressing the media at a press briefing.
The trip comes weeks after CAF’s Appeals Board controversially overturned Senegal’s triumph at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Although Senegal had initially defeated Morocco in the final on January 18, the result was later reversed, with Morocco declared champions.
CAF ruled that Senegal violated Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament’s regulations after some of its players left the pitch in protest of a refereeing decision during the match.
