The British boyband 911 has claimed they originated Beyonce’s famous “booty shake” dance move.
During a BBC documentary “Boybands Forever,” band members Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable, and Simon ‘Spike‘ Dawbarn shared their story.
Spike revealed that during a TV show performance of their 1997 hit “Bodyshakin‘”, Beyonce was fascinated by their dance.
He quoted: “There’s something about that move… we did a TV show with Destiny’s Child. We performed and we did Bodyshakin’ and Beyonce was like ‘show us that move! Keep doing it’.”
Spike added: “And me and jimmy, we just stood there, doing the move because if Beyonce asked you, you did it! So when you watch Beyonce videos doing the booty shake I’m like ‘ah, she robbed it!’ We did it first!”.
This isn’t the first time Beyonce has faced dance move controversy.
In 2011, Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker accused her of copying her choreography for the single “Countdown“, stating: “I didn’t know anything about this. I’m not mad, but this is plagiarism.”
MailOnline has contacted Beyoncé’s representatives for comment.
