Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has delivered a firm message to Nigeria international Ademola Lookman, stating that the forward must demonstrate total dedication before being fully reintegrated into the squad.
The Serie A side has been unsettled by Lookman’s prolonged transfer saga, with reports suggesting the winger attempted to force a move to rivals Inter Milan during the summer window. The 27-year-old subsequently missed two weeks of training and has since struggled to reclaim his role in Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans.
Addressing the situation, Percassi acknowledged Lookman’s unquestionable talent but made it clear that commitment to the club comes first.
“We all know how good he is, but to play for Atalanta, you must be 100% focused,” Percassi told reporters. “When he’s ready, we’ll be waiting for him with open arms.”
Lookman’s attitude in training has reportedly raised concerns, with head coach Ivan Juric already signaling he will not plead with the player to return. Instead, the onus is now on the Super Eagles star to convince the club hierarchy of his readiness to contribute.
Atalanta fans, who embraced Lookman after his impressive debut season in Bergamo, will be watching closely to see if he can put the off-field drama behind him and reignite the form that made him one of the league’s standout attackers.
