The CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 recorded a landmark digital footprint, generating a record 6.1 billion digital impressions and 5.2 billion video views across social media platforms
The figures, released on CAF’s social media handles represent an improvement on previous editions of the tournament.
For comparison, AFCON 2023 recorded approximately 2.1 billion digital views, meaning the 2025 edition nearly tripled that total.
CAF described the performance as unprecedented, positioning African football as a dominant force on the global digital stage.
“The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 is now the most viewed football continental competition, generating an extraordinary 5.2 billion video views,” CAF said.
According to the body, one of the biggest areas of growth came from the African diaspora, with millions of new users engaging with AFCON 2025 content throughout the tournament.
“From breathtaking goals and dramatic match moments to behind-the-scenes access and fan reactions, content from TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 travelled at remarkable speed across borders, languages and cultures, reinforcing the competition’s status as a truly global spectacle.
“Crucially, the tournament was driven by the fans themselves. A total of 285 million engagements were recorded, reflecting an unprecedented level of interaction and emotional investment.
“TikTok emerged as the beating heart of the tournament’s digital ecosystem. More than one million fan-generated videos were created under #TotalEnergiesAFCON2025, turning the competition into a cultural movement that went far beyond the pitch,” the football body noted.
CAF added that the content ranged from goal celebrations and tactical analysis to humour, music and fashion inspired by the competition, helping to introduce AFCON to younger and new audiences worldwide.
Hosted by Morocco, the tournament ran from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
