2021 Women’s AfroBasket: D’Tigress beat Angola to qualify for quarterfinals

Nigeria’s Women’s basketball team, D’Tigress recorded their second win  at the ongoing AfroBasket Women’s championship in Yaounde, Cameroon defeating Angola 85 – 65 to book their passage into the quarterfinals of the competition on Monday night, September 20.
In the game, Nigeria made the match look easy and ended up humbling their opponents with a  20point margin. Nigeria first beat Mozambique 67-50 in their first group B match, and knew a win against Angola will be enough for them. Ezinne Kalu led with a team high of 12 points and three assists, but it was the contributions from the likes of Oderah Chidom who made 10 points and six rebounds and Ify Ibekwe who made nine points and eight rebounds that was very essential. Nigeria’s main rivals for the title this year include Mali, Senegal, and the hosts Cameroon who all won their opening two games of the Championships.
Nigeria will now play the winner of the second round match between Ivory Coast and Guinea on Thursday, September 23 for a place in the semifinals of the competition. ????? ?????
