Manchester City have completed the signing of Algerian left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal worth around £33.7 million (€40 million).
The 23-year-old, who has impressed with his performances in the Premier League since joining Wolves in 2020, is expected to undergo his medical this weekend before being officially unveiled as a City player.
Aït-Nouri becomes City’s second major signing of the summer transfer window, following the club’s agreement with AC Milan for Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.
Manager Pep Guardiola has been keen to reinforce his squad after a trophyless season, and Aït-Nouri’s arrival will provide much-needed depth and competition in the left-back position.
The move is part of City’s broader squad revamp ahead of their upcoming participation in the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off June 18 in the United States. Aït-Nouri is expected to bring both defensive solidity and attacking drive, adding to Guardiola’s tactical flexibility on the flanks.
His transfer is also seen as a statement of intent as the Premier League champions look to bounce back stronger in the new campaign.
