Veteran Nollywood movie marketer, Akeem Olatunji Balogun, popularly known as Olasco Films, has fired back at actors Wale Akorede and Austin Emmanuel, describing them as ingrates following allegations levelled against him
Olasco made the remarks while reacting to claims made by the actors during recent interviews.
Okunnu had earlier called out the filmmaker over a movie produced for him about 16 years ago, accusing him of allegedly keeping all the proceeds generated from the project. The comic actor said he had not forgiven Olasco over the issue.
The controversy comes months after Austin Emmanuel also accused Olasco Films and his associate, Toymax Films, of allegedly blacklisting him in the movie industry. Emmanuel, who has been absent from the screen for years, further alleged that Toymax had a personal dispute involving his girlfriend.
Responding in an interview with actor Tunde Ola-Yusuf, Olasco dismissed the allegations, insisting he supported both actors at different stages of their careers.
He claimed he paid Okunnu ₦2 million to produce the movie at a time when film production reportedly cost between ₦700,000 and ₦1 million.
Comparing his relationship with the actor to a helper being forgotten after offering assistance, Olasco maintained that the accusations of unpaid work were false.
The movie marketer also alleged that Austin Emmanuel was only trying to gain attention with his name, adding that he helped promote the film that brought the actor into the spotlight.
