Masked robbers steal money and jewellery from Paris Hotel where Lionel Messi lives

Masked robbers have reportedly stolen thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and cash during a raid on the Paris hotel where Lionel Messi is living. The raiders broke into Le Royal Monceau by scaling down from the roof on the outside of the building. They entered through an unlocked balcony door on the floor above the Paris Saint-Germain superstar’s £17,000-a-night hotel suite. Four rooms were raided in the robbery just weeks after the footballer waved to adoring fans from the balcony of his luxury new home, according to The Sun. Two masked men, were seen in CCTV footage making their way to the sixth-floor balcony on Wednesday evening last week. That night, PSG had an away game at Metz in northeast France but Messi stayed at home after sustaining an injury in the previous game. One victim, a financial advisor in Dubai, said she left her £1,000-a-night room for the evening and discovered her £3,000 gold necklace, £500 earrings and £2,000 in cash were missing the following morning. She said: ‘To pay a fortune for somewhere fancy and secure and have someone walk in your room is very disturbing.  ‘The police told us they saw two men with a bag on the roof on CCTV cameras but they could not identify them. ‘They said three other robberies were also reported. A Moroccan guy in the next room told me he had his watch stolen.’ She claimed the hotel did not believe her allegations until the police were involved. The hotel says the theft is ‘under investigation’.
