Igor Tudor has stepped down as Tottenham Hotspur’s interim head coach after just 44 days in charge, covering seven matches
The club announced that they and the Croatian coach have “mutually agreed” to part ways with “immediate effect.”
The decision follows a heavy 3-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest on 22 March, which left Spurs 17th in the Premier League table—only one point clear of the relegation zone with seven games remaining.
Since taking over from the sacked Thomas Frank on 14 February, Tudor oversaw seven games across all competitions, winning only two and suffering five defeats. He had been contracted to remain until the end of the season.
Tottenham confirmed that an update on the appointment of a new head coach would be provided soon. BBC Sport reports that the replacement is expected to be announced in the coming days, timed for the return of most players from international duty.
In the meantime, Tudor’s assistant Bruno Saltor will take charge of training, while goalkeeping coach Tomislav Rogic and fitness coach Riccardo Ragnacci have also left the club.
Tudor, 47, had missed post-match media duties after the Forest defeat due to the recent death of his father.
Spurs issued a statement saying: “We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly. We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.”
