Legendary Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he would love to one day return to the Red Devils as manager.
United had won just one of their past seven Premier League matches by the time they sacked Solskjaer in November 2021, with his side seventh in the table, 12 points behind the leaders.
The 51-year-old has yet to return to management since he left the club but has been linked with numerous vacancies as he contemplates his next step.
Speaking at a business summit on Thursday, September 26, Solskjaer didn’t hide away the fact he’d love to return to United one day, though he fully respects the current manager, Erik ten Hag.
Asked if he would consider taking over United once more in the future, Solskjaer told the Oslo Business Forum:
“I would say yes every day of the week. It feels wrong to talk about jobs that other people have, but I would say yes of course.”
He was also questioned on the possibility of one day managing the Norwegian national side, a position currently held by former international teammate Ståle Solbakken.
“I am a proud Norwegian, and of course, if the question arises, when Ståle decides to give up, I will happily engage in discussions. I am a proud Norwegian and proud of where I come from.”
Solskjaer was a member of the United squad that won the Treble in the 1999/2000 season.
He scored the winning goal in stoppage time as United came from a goal down to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in the 1999 final at the Nou Camp.
