Singer Timaya has stated why dating a Nigerian man or woman is pointless.
He said this while revealing why he doesn’t have a Nigerian girlfriend and expressing reservations about dating Nigerian men if he were a woman.
In an interview with Beat 99.9 FM, the singer delved into the intricacies of his dating preferences.
During the interview, Timaya expressed that his choice to steer clear of Nigerian relationships from his belief that there’s little excitement in dating someone with a similar background, upbringing, and environment.
The Bayelsa-born artist likened such relationships to a toxic dynamic, drawing a vivid analogy between a police officer and a thief.
The singer emphasised that while he doesn’t harbour any issues with Nigerian men, he feels that a romantic relationship would lack the necessary spark if both partners share too many similarities in their backgrounds.
“If I am a Nigerian girl, I will not date a Nigerian man. Myself right now, I can’t date a Nigerian girl,” he said.
