Producer, JJC opened up about his challenging early career and a fallout with industry heavyweights including Don Jazzy, D’Banj, Ayo Shonaiya, and DJ Abbas
On a latest episode of the Echoroom show, JJC recounted how he first met these figures while they were running a UK-based TV station, hoping they could help him navigate the Nigerian music scene.
He explained that Kaz introduced him to Don Jazzy, while Ayo and DJ Abbas were also involved. At the time, he was looking for guidance and connections to advance his career.
However, JJC claimed that instead of supporting him, some of them had plans he wasn’t aware of. He recalled hearing from Rugged Man that D’Banj had allegedly spoken negatively about him.
He insisted he never wronged anyone financially, saying, “I am not paying them and cheating them. I’m not. Nobody knows you, bro. I’m the one taking you to shows, buying your clothes, your food, giving you a place to stay. How could I be cheating you when you haven’t even made money?”
JJC emphasized that he played a key role in promoting Don Jazzy and D’Banj early on, yet felt misunderstood and unfairly blamed for circumstances beyond his control.
