Heartbreaking! Busola Oke speaks on her many woes

Imagine waking up every day not knowing how you will feed your children. Imagine performing on stage, yet returning home with nothing but debt weighing down your shoulders. This is the reality gospel singer Busola Oke, popularly known as Eleyele has been living for years!

Sharing her hidden struggles that led her to tears on the internet a day ago, she revealed in an interview today that;

“I did that video because I was hungry,” she said, her voice cracking.

“There are times I will just look at myself, and I won’t be able to provide food for myself.

I’m a Christian. I never said I was going to commit su!cide because I know the implication. I just wanted someone to tell me, ‘I love you.’ I communicated with my fans because I was depressed. I just needed to hear someone’s voice, some sign that I wasn’t completely alone in this world.”

She recounts how the shows she was able to collect barely covered her transport fares, leaving nothing for her or her children.

“I can’t just sit at home without food to eat,” she said.

“I never knew a stage like this would come in my life, that it would be this difficult. I live my life on debt. Debt all over. I owe a lot of people. I don’t know what can happen to me tomorrow, but I don’t want to leave this world with debt. I want to be free.”

Busola’s struggles extended beyond financial hardship. She tells of seeking help from people who promised support, only to face exploitation.

“I have gone to a place where they said they wanted to help me, but when I got there, they started making advances at me to do unreasonable things. I left because I can’t do it, and the person refused to give me transportation to go back. I couldn’t believe it. I was just seeking help, not trouble.”

She also shared moments of terrifying vulnerability:
The day her car burned outside while she was indoors, the nights she slept in different places with her children because she had nowhere to live, even spending three nights in the airport with nothing but a wrapper to cover her children.

“Helplessly at the airport. I have seen a lot,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “My eyes have seen a lot that I can’t even say out loud. I have been quiet since 2020.

There was a time I prayed to God that instead of leaving me to suffer, why not take my life. But I survived. I am still here.”

Through all of this, she acknowledges the few people who stood by her.

“My manager really tried for me; he stood by me. That support kept me going when nothing else could.”

Busola’s testimony is a stark reminder of the unseen battles behind public personas. Fame and accolades did not shield her from hunger, debt, or despair.

Her story raises uncomfortable but necessary questions:

How many voices cry silently behind the glitz, and who really hears them?

For those struggling with depression, hopelessness, or suicidal thoughts, help is available. Reaching out to friends, family, religious leaders, or professional support can make the difference you are not alone. #Hugs
