Nollywood star Tonto Dikeh has shared a personal story about what she describes as a life-changing instruction she received from God and it all started with something as simple as cleaning.
In a recent post, the Tonto revealed that her first “divine assignment” was to clean God’s house.
While she obeyed, she admitted that she was initially puzzled by the instruction, especially considering she has people who handle such tasks for her at home.
Despite her hesitation, she said she chose to follow through and that decision marked the beginning of a deeper transformation in her life.
“This is the first assignment God gave me,
to clean his house. I smiled in obedience, never questioning His instruction.
Yet, in my heart, I wondered, “Why cleaning, Lord?” Especially because I have multiple staff dedicated to maintaining/cleaning my home, because I personally struggled with obsessive tendencies(OCD) toward cleanliness.
I even asked Him, “Can I not simply pay others to do this?”
And He answered gently but powerfully: “NO CHILD, DO IT YOURSELF. It is an assignment to launch you into my Glory so that I can cleanse your life from the inside out.”
From that moment, I picked up my broom, my mop, and my buckets with joy and surrender. What seemed like a simple physical task became a spiritual transformation.
Through obedience, God began a deeper work within me, purifying, restoring, and renewing my life.
Today, I can boldly declare: God has been faithful. My life reflects His goodness(restoration, celebration, and unending testimonies).
Doors that were once closed are now opening.
Help comes even from strangers (2 Corinthians 9:8).
There is not a day without evidence of His grace. Even before I pray, answers come.
Now, I have reached a place where I no longer seek God merely for His blessings. He has already given me the greatest gift( life, breath, and Himself). My deepest desire is “MORE OF HIM”
My heart longs for deeper intimacy, to know Him, to love Him, and to worship Him in spirit and in truth. For truly, God is good, and His work in my life is undeniable”.
Reflecting on the experience, Tonto explained that what looked like an ordinary chore turned into a powerful spiritual lesson. She believes the act of obedience allowed God to begin a deeper work in her life one that brought healing, renewal, and visible changes.
According to her, things have since shifted in remarkable ways, with new opportunities opening up and unexpected help coming her way. More importantly, she says her relationship with God has grown beyond seeking material blessings, as she now desires a deeper connection and understanding of Him.
For the actress, the assignment wasn’t really about cleaning it was about transformation from within.
