Before she became a Nollywood star, Eucharia Anunobi faced serious challenges especially from her father right from childhood.
Her father, she says, didn’t believe in educating girls and saw her ambitions as a waste of time.
When she refused to follow the career he chose for her, he cut off support and even unofficially disowned her.
Determined to continue her education, Eucharia turned to modelling to pay her way.
But her home life was harsh she recalls a period when her father locked her in her room for six months just to make her fill out job forms she didn’t want. She stood her ground and refused.
Her acting dreams weren’t any easier. She stated that, sometimes she had to sneak out or even jump the fence just to attend auditions. Yet her persistence paid off.
Winning her first award in London for Glamour Girls marked a turning point. Her father, finally proud, gave her his blessing and she presented the award to him.
Eucharia’s journey shows the power of resilience and staying true to yourself, even when it means standing up to those who are supposed to guide you.
