Music Video director, TG Omori has opened up about his financial struggles in the industry and when he started earning incomes from it.
Despite being one of the most in-demand directors, he revealed that he only started making a profit from his work in 2023.
Prior to that, he was in significant production debt for five years, which he eventually paid off using income generated from his personal brand. Omori shared this insight during an online session with fans, highlighting the challenges faced by creatives in the industry.
He said: “I only started making profits in 2023. Every time I’m losing money from pick up shoots or something! Budget is never enough, in fact I was in bad production debt for 5years. Just had to live with it, I was paying up and taking more to cover up.
“I was only able to pay it off through money my brand and personality was fetching me. It’s a though life for creatives. Hug a creative beside you today.”
Interestingly, last year, Davido disclosed that he paid Omori N100 million to direct the music video for his hit song “Jowo,” a payment Omori later confirmed on social media.
