Ibrahim Chatta has shared his views on gender roles and financial responsibility in marriage, stressing what he believes is a man’s primary duty in the home.
Speaking on the subject, the Nollywood actor said;
“One of men’s responsibilities in this life is to take care of women. When you take care of your woman, you prosper.”
Chatta clarified that his stance is not rooted in opposition to gender equality or financial independence for women.
However, he emphasized that personal responsibility remains important to him regardless of a woman’s financial status.
“I am not against equality or a woman being richer than me,” he said. “But if my wife had an estate, I would still prefer us living in the house I built, pay the children’s school fees and buy foodstuffs.”
According to the actor, providing for his family including shelter, education, and daily needs is a matter of pride and principle.
His remarks reflect an enduring belief in traditional marital roles, even as conversations around partnership and shared responsibilities continue to evolve within contemporary society.
